Celebrating a Dynamic First Half of 2024
As the summer begins, we reflect on an incredible first half of 2024, marked by an impressive 20 events across our vibrant communities. As we transition into a brief event hiatus during the month of July, we take pride in wrapping up several powerful programs that have had a profound impact on our community.

Empowering Women in Tech

The LebNet Women in Tech community proudly launched a new 1:1 WiT mentorship program aimed at supporting women in their early to mid tech careers. This initiative paired 21 mentor-mentee pairs and included a mixer event and two career development workshops. These connections and opportunities are designed to empower women in tech, fostering growth and confidence in their professional journeys.

Supporting Graduate Students

Our Soft Landing Program welcomed 7 graduate students from Lebanon, providing them with mentors from our Early-in-Career leadership team and a small stipend to help with their travel costs. This program aims to ease their transition and support their academic and professional development in North America.

Internship Success

We successfully concluded our sixth year of the Internship Program, offering 25 internships in technology, biotech, and business from 10 different companies. We secured these opportunities by reaching out to CEOs of Lebanese origin and actively worked with LebNet student members in North America and major universities in Lebanon to find matches. 

Celebrating Tech Fellows

On May 31st, we celebrated the culmination of the second Tech Fellows Program with a heartwarming event at LAU, Beirut. The program showcased the remarkable achievements of 81 fellows from 13 universities across Lebanon, a significant increase from last year’s 25 participants. The event, attended by both virtually and in-person, highlighted the growth and dedication of these outstanding individuals.

Looking Ahead

As we take a moment to pause and recharge, we are immensely proud of these accomplishments and their far-reaching impacts. These programs and events exemplify our commitment to empowering and supporting the Lebanese tech community.

In the second half of the year, our focus will shift to fundraising to help us continue expanding our reach and growing our impact. Your support is crucial.

LebNet Boston: AI in Health Tech

On June 6th, LebNet Boston hosted an insightful event at MIT, on AI in Health Tech. The discussion covered several key topics from the use of AI/ML tools in oncology and drug discovery to the probabilistic nature of AI, its potential limitations in healthcare applications, and its intersection with pathology and various diagnostic areas.

LebNet DC: Mid-Atlantic Networking Event

On June 6th, LebNet Mid-Atlantic was thrilled to host a networking event for its community in Washington D.C. The event attracted professionals from various tech industries, and the turnout was impressive.

LebNet Toronto: A Networking Event & Discussion on Digital Identity, its Future and Applications

On June 10th, the LebNet Toronto community hosted a networking and Informal Discussion on Digital Identity, its Future and Applications; led by LebNet Toronto leadership member Fadwa Mohanna, an expert in the field.
