From Chicago to the Bay: A Coast-to-Coast Celebration of Community and Talent

In the span of just three days, I had the privilege of experiencing two incredible LebNet moments on opposite coasts, and both left me inspired and proud to be part of this community.

In Chicago, we marked a milestone with our very first tech event. Over 50 attendees came together for a fireside chat with Malek El Khazen (Microsoft) and Kam Ghossaini (SAP), diving into how AI is reshaping industries and the future of work. The discussion sparked thoughtful questions and lively exchanges, paired with a Lebanese lunch that made the gathering feel both professional and personal. As one participant put it: “Great talk, delicious lunch, and amazing people. Keep these events coming!” It was the perfect kickoff for a city ready to grow its LebNet footprint.

Just a few days later, the Bay Area lit up with our 6th Bireme Award Ceremony, honoring Simon Kalouche, Entrepreneur of the Year and Founder & CEO of Nimble, and Alaa Khaddaj, Young Scientist of the Year and Research Scientist at OpenAI. They shared their career journeys, the influence of their Lebanese heritage, and their visions for robotics and AI. The evening drew a record crowd, with students, young professionals, and seasoned leaders all leaving energized and inspired. One attendee summed it up best: “Heartfelt and inspiring!  I was blown away by the talent and ethos of the awardees and everyone I met.”

Both events, in their own way, showed what makes LebNet special: the ability to connect across cities and generations, to learn from one another, and to celebrate the Lebanese spirit of innovation and resilience together. I can’t wait to see which city lights up next with the energy of our community!
