The name bireme comes from “bi-” meaning two and “-reme” meaning oar. A bireme is an ancient warship with two decks of oars, designed and used by the Phoenicians. Since its inception in 2019, LebNet's Bireme Award Program has been a testament to the recognition of outstanding individuals within the Lebanese diaspora who have made noteworthy contributions to the technology sector. This annual program acknowledges excellence in various categories, including Lifetime Achievement, Executive of the Year, Technologist/Scientist of the Year, Entrepreneur of the Year, Mentor/Youth Champion of the Year, and Philanthropist of the Year. The recipients of these esteemed awards are carefully chosen from our vibrant diaspora community, and eligibility requires being of Lebanese descent, a background in technology, and residence in North America. Through the Bireme Award Program, LebNet continues to shine a spotlight on the remarkable achievements of those shaping the landscape of technology within the Lebanese community. |
