LEBNET NEWSLETTER Standing Together: Supporting Lebanon in Times of Crisis
September 2024
Lebanon is under a brutal attack, and our families and friends back home are enduring unimaginable hardship, as is our community across the diaspora. With an infrastructure that cannot sustain the crisis, civil society and volunteer groups are stepping up, demonstrating a much-needed spirit of unity. Like many of you, I have been struggling to find ways to help. Donating to trusted organizations is always top of mind, but it can be difficult to know which ones to choose. Below is a list of organizations we’ve vetted. In addition to these, many individual volunteers are raising funds through social media—I’ve personally donated to a few that I trust, and I encourage you to do the same. To the extent you can, I also encourage you to share your grief with friends and colleagues in an effort to counter the dehumanizing media narrative.
We urge our community to donate and stand in solidarity with Lebanon. Every contribution, no matter the size, makes a difference. Let’s continue doing what we do best, supporting one another and finding ways to uplift our country, wherever we are.
At LebNet, we remain committed, now more than ever, to supporting Lebanon’s tech community, especially the youth and early-career professionals. Through initiatives like the Tech Fellows and Mentorship Programs, we will intensify our efforts to uplift the future of Lebanese in tech. In response to the crisis, these two programs are launching again imminently with the intent to scale and reach more people.
Let’s keep praying for better days ahead for Lebanon and its people. We’ll pull through it.
Habib Haddad, Chairman of the LebNet Board
