PROGRAM PILLARS

This program is an evidence-based AI tech fellowship focused on merging rigorous theory with practical application to address real-world challenges in Lebanon.

THEORETICAL MASTERY

  • Current applications of AI and the evolution of AI over the years
  • Basic setup of a machine learning problem: loss function, model class, optimization algorithm, train/test split, evaluation metrics, feature engineering
  • Basics of neural networks and transformers
  • Training pipeline of modern day LLMs: pre-training, post-training
  • Broader implications of deploying AI models: safety, privacy, ethics, human-AI collaboration
  • Current limitations and evolving topics

PRACTICAL SKILLS

  • Training a ML model given tabular data
  • Prompting an LLM to accomplish any given task which may involve tool use, learning advanced LLM prompting patterns: agents, ReACT, sub-agents, RAG… for many real world use cases
  • Fine tuning a small LLM given specially selected data
  • Applying learnings to broader real-life situations

APPLIED PROJECT

  • Addressing a real-life scenario or problem in Lebanon or a scientific complexity
  • Producing presentable artifacts (write-up, code, data, demo, model)

PROGRAM CURRICULUM

The program is led by leading AI industry and research experts and is designed to ensure Lebanese technologists remain globally competitive, positioning Lebanon as an emerging hub for innovative AI talent that leverages cutting-edge technologies to solve real-world problems in Lebanon and beyond.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes, you are eligible to apply and will be considered a first-year undergraduate applicant.

Please submit the transcript of your final year in high school instead.

The fellowship program offerings are set up with the expectation that fellows will have at least one year of studies left to incorporate the takeaways from the fellowship program into their academic and professional profile, in preparation for transition to post-university life.

We do not have a GPA cut-off. We will review applications holistically, so applicants’ academic and extracurricular experiences, as well as ambitions and goals will factor into our decision.
