About the Program

The LebNet Tech Fellows program is a 6-month fellowship program that equips the next generation of Lebanese technologists with the skills needed to successfully explore and transition into careers and higher studies in technology post-university. The program cultivates a tight-knit cohort of fellows and offers immersive skill-development workshops, panels and networking opportunities with Lebanese tech experts in North America, site visits to technology hubs, dedicated mentorship, and accelerated pipelines to internships and scholarships. The program will welcome up to 100 fellows to its 2024 cohort.

Eligibility Requirements

The program is open to applicants who:

  • Are enrolled in an undergraduate program at a university in Lebanon
  • Are first or second year students in a 3-year program, or are first, second, or third year students in a 4-year program
  • Are majoring in: computer science, computer engineering, mechanical engineering and design, mechatronics engineering, electrical engineering, mathematics, statistics, and other majors with a computational or technical focus (eg. computational biology)
  • Demonstrate, via the fellowship application material, a genuine passion for pursuing a career or advanced studies in technology fields, backed by a track record of relevant experiences and a strong commitment to meeting the rigorous standards of the fellowship program
  • Demonstrate strong English language proficiency

Students from all backgrounds are welcome to apply. First-generation, low income, and female students are encouraged to apply.

Application Material

Please submit the application form by the deadline on November 30, 2023 at 11:59 pm Beirut time. The application material consists of short essay questions and copies of your resume and unofficial university transcript. Please limit your resume to one page. We encourage you to be authentic and reflect on personal experiences that have guided you to applying to the LebNet Fellows program in your application material. We want to get to know you!

Program Logistics

The required program sessions will be held virtually via Zoom, so that students from all regions in Lebanon can join conveniently. There will be optional, in-person components as well, such as site visits and community gatherings. The program sessions will be held twice a month, from January to June 2024 on every other Saturday at 6 pm Beirut time, to accommodate for program leaders and guest speakers joining from North America. Each session lasts for 1.25 hours.

The program offerings range from crash courses on skills, career paths, and panels to Ask-Me-Anything sessions. This year, the program is built upon four pillars:

  3. Cracking Your Future
  4. Radical Paths

    Fellows get the chance to network with leading Lebanese tech experts in North America, gain new skills, apply for internships and scholarships via accelerated LebNet pipelines, receive a fellowship certificate of completion, build connections with fellows for life, and join the LebNet Fellows alumni group.

    FAQ

    I am a high-school graduate about to start my undergraduate studies. Am I eligible to apply?
      Yes, you are eligible to apply and will be considered a first-year undergraduate applicant.
    What if I'm a first-year university student and do not have any university transcripts yet?
    Please submit the transcript of your final year in high school instead.
    Why can’t I apply as a senior (final-year) student?
    The fellowship program offerings are set up with the expectation that fellows will have at least one year of studies left to incorporate the takeaways from the fellowship program into their academic and professional profile, in preparation for transition to post-university life.
    What is the minimum GPA required?
    We do not have a GPA cut-off. We will review applications holistically, so applicants’ academic and extracurricular experiences, as well as ambitions and goals will factor into our decision.
