The LebNet fellowship program is paving the way for a brighter future for women tech students in Lebanon. 

In February 2023, the LebNet Fellowship program welcomed 25 undergraduate students from the American University of Beirut, the Lebanese American University, and the Lebanese University. Looking ahead to 2024, LebNet is set to scale this initiative, with the goal of reaching 100 students.

Be part of our new Women in Tech Mentorship Program NOW

The LebNet Women in Tech leadership has launched the Mentorship Program to empower and support women professionals in their early/mid careers in tech by fostering meaningful connections between mentors and mentees. The virtual program will pair experienced professionals (male and female mentors are welcome) with women mentees seeking guidance and support. We’re still receiving applications from mentors and mentees.

New faces and great vibes at LebNet San Diego’s Saturday picnic event

On Saturday September 30th, the LebNet San Diego community hosted a picnic day at Mission Bay. Despite the weather, the event was a success and managed to attract old and new faces, coming together to network over good food and interesting conversations. We want to thank the San Diego steering committee for their great work on this event. “I want to thank everybody who showed up. There were many fresh faces in attendance. I was very happy to see the kids enjoying the games. We will surely do this again!” said Aziz Gholmieh, LebNet San Diego steering committee lead. 

Amer Deeba shares career advice and growth tactics

On September 14th, the LebNet Bay Area committee organized a fireside chat featuring Amer Deeba, CEO and Co-Founder of Normalyze, who discussed his transition from a dedicated developer to a Chief Commercial Officer at Qualys and ultimately a Co-founder and CEO at Normalyze, a cybersecurity startup focused on cloud data security that he started during the pandemic.

On August 31st, LebNet hosted an exclusive roundtable discussion with Habib Haddad, LebNet Chairman & Managing Partner at E14 Fund. The private virtual conversation, which was exclusive to 10 paid LebNet members, delved into Habib’s journey as a successful entrepreneur and seasoned professional. 

Lebanese Cultural Night at MIT

The "Connect to Your Roots" event, organized by the Lebanese Collegiate Network (LCN) in partnership with LebNet, and the MIT Lebanese Club, was held on September 26th and saw an enthusiastic turnout of approximately 40 attendees from across the East Coast. The event provided a vibrant platform for individuals to network and revel in their cultural heritage. Students and alumni from MIT, Harvard University, Boston University, Columbia University, and several others, came together to showcase their impressive dabke moves.

AI Powered Avatars to Put Your Mind At Ease

Alexandra Assouad and her two other co-founders, Akanksha Shelat and Dalia Ahmed, struggled to find the proper mental health support they needed when they were away from their home countries, so they created Mind-Easy, a platform that offers virtual therapists proficient in several dialects and over 120 languages. 

Member in the news: Philippe Boutros wants to change how companies buy software

Philippe Boutros founded GetWhys, a resource to help software buyers find the right product for them using InsightsDB, a proprietary database that collects data and research interviews with software buyers to help customers save time, identify the right solution, negotiate the cost and contract, and efficiently implement it. “It leverages the hindsight of people who come before you.”

From Lebanon to the world

Meet NinjaCo, a Lebanon-based initiative founded by Charbel Daoud that teaches kids and youth coding and robotics. In 2022, the NinjaCo youth entered the national robotics competition in Lebanon, won first place and qualified to represent Lebanon at the global competition (World Robotic Olympiad) in Germany. The team competed against 365 teams from 73 countries, and ranked number 20 in the world, and ranked  number 4 in the Arab world. 

This year, another group of 16 year olds won the Lebanese national competition, and have qualified to represent Lebanon in the World Robotic Olympiad being held in Panama this November. The team is seeking sponsorship to be able to attend the global competition. Learn more by visiting this link.

Call for Lebanese students

The University of Nevada, Reno, is offering fully funded Master's programs, with potential for later PhD opportunities, particularly in Pavement Engineering within the Civil Engineering field. They are actively seeking to welcome more students from Lebanon.
