In memory of Nabil Bukhalid, a Lebanese Internet evangelist and Internet Hall of Fame inductee, LebNet Canada is hosting an event on April 15th to honor his life and remember his achievements.

An accomplished leader, known as the ‘Father of the Internet’ in Lebanon, Nabil Bukhalid graduated from the American University of Beirut with an Electrical Engineering Degree in 1981 and an Executive Master in Business Administration in 2005. After graduating, he led the Computing and Networking team there and  brought the Internet to Lebanon. In 1993, he established the Lebanese Domain Registry (LBDR) and served as administrator and registrar for the .LB ccTLD since its creation. Bukhalid was also the founder of the Lebanese Academic and Research Network (LARN), co-founder of the Lebanese Broadband Manifesto Support Group (LBSG) and BeirutIX, the first Internet Exchange Point in Lebanon.

He is also a co-founder and ex-president of the Internet Society Lebanon chapter; co-founder and CEO of the Lebanese Internet Center; and advisory board member of the Lebanese Canadian Tech Hub, which merged with LebNet to become LebNet Canada in 2018. His life and achievements will forever be remembered and celebrated by all Lebanese. We are deeply saddened by this loss and we are certain his legacy will remain alive and engraved in the heart of the future generations to come. Join us on April 15th to commemorate his life and celebrate all the great work he has done for his beloved country.

The event will feature the inauguration of the Nabil Bukhalid Computer Lab at L’ecole de Notre-Dame de Nareg. The ceremony will be celebrated with Lebanese wine and Canadian cheese. This is made possible through the support of Nabil Bukhalid’s friends and LebNet Canada. Testimonials will be given by Fadi Joseph, LebNet Canada President and Roger Karam from LIFE Canada.

The event will be preceded by a mass celebrated by Paul-Marwan Tabet, Bishop of the Eparchy of Saint-Maron, for those of you who would like to attend.

The event is open to all members and friends residing in Montreal.

- The mass will take place at l’École Notre-Dame de Nareg, 500 Avenue 67, Laval, Quebec H7V 2M2, Canada at 5:30 PM ET.
