Job Description


Wearable Sensing is a San Diego-based company focused on the development of wearable sensors technology and its potential applications. Our first products are wearable wireless brain activity monitoring systems that are opening the door to innovative applications in commercial domains including neuroergonomics, augmented cognition, Brain Computer Interfaces (BCI), neuromarketing, peak-performance training, etc. Wearable Sensing is a start-up that was founded in March 2013 and is actively growing.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Intern will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic start-up environment and support the engineering team in developing and testing brain activity monitoring software, amongst other related tasks.

This internship will provide the student with valuable insights into the software development, testing, and documentation process and enhance their technical skills.

SKILLS THE INTERN MUST HAVE:

  • Debugging - Ability to identify and troubleshoot software issues, understand error messages, and employ debugging techniques to resolve problems efficiently.
  • Version Control - Proficiency in version control systems, including knowledge of branching, merging, and code collaboration.
  • Testing – Knowledge of software testing principles and methods.
  • Scripting - Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for automating tasks, creating utilities, and enhancing development workflows.
  • Documentation – Knowledge of software documentation standards.

      STUDENTS RESPONSIBILITIES/EXPECTATIONS:

      • Beta testing software designed for the acquisition of brain activity data.
      • Identifying, documenting, and testing bugs and debugged software.
      • Documenting firmware and software to medical standards.
      • Updating various software user manuals.

      STUDENT QUALIFICATIONS:

      • At least 1 semester of math and 2 computing courses.
      • Self-driven individual who is meticulous and diligently attentive to details.
      • Responsible and independent worker who strives to complete projects on time.
      • Fluency in English, with good communication and computer skills
      • Flexible team-player who is capable of following instructions.


        This internship is available through the Border Region Talent Pipeline Grant, which has its own eligibility criteria. Interested participants must meet these requirements and apply accordingly.
